How to make Fresh Baked Apple Pie
Our apple pie recipe is a year-round favorite. What once felt intimidating has become an enjoyable baking experience. With less butter and sugar than most recipes, this pie strikes the perfect balance of flavor. Be sure to serve it with vanilla ice cream—it takes the warm pie to a new level of deliciousness!
Ingredients
8 servings
- 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 5 honey crisp apples (peeled and sliced)
- 3/4 c dark brown sugar
- 3 Tablespoon flour
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 c water
- 2 pie crusts
Directions
- Melt butter over low-medium heat.
- Mix in sugar.
- Add flour, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Then add water and mix together.
- Place apples in pan and coat evenly.
- Cook apples on low-medium heat until tender (8-10 minutes).
- Lightly coat pie plate with no-stick spray and place a pie crust inside pressing dough along the sides and rim.
- Pour the apples into the pie crust, then cover them with the second crust. For a lattice design, you can use a pizza cutter.
- Bake at 400°F on the middle rack for 40-45 minutes or until the crust is golden, and the apples are bubbling. If the crust is browning too quickly, particularly along the edges, cover with foil midway through baking.
